Danny Bergeron

I have been an avid scuba diver and underwater photographer for over 25 years and have logged well over 2800 dives. In that time, diving and photography equipment has changed dramatically.

A Canon 7D SLR digital camera in a Sea and Sea housing is the set up I have been using along with several different lenses. I have now upgraded to a Canon 5D Mark III full frame format camera. I also use two "Ikelite" underwater strobes with various ports to capture my images. Some of these have been published by underwater diving magazines including "National Geographic". My signature photo also won "Best of Show" in the photography division in a "Galveston Art League" show.

I am retired from DOW Chemical after 33 1/2 years of service  in Engineering and Construction Management. I spent my early years in Texas City. In my teens, I moved to Galveston where I was an avid surfer and resided there most of my life. I also became a Black Belt in Martial Arts and had a school for over 34 years. My wife and I have four daughters and three grand children. I now live in Friendswood, Texas with my wife and diving partner Sarah Van Riper.

Being a PADI Scuba Diving Instructor and working in diving retail with Sport Divers of Houston since 2002 has given me an opportunity to dive some of the most exotic places in the world. Before that I was working with The DEEP in Galveston, Texas. I have been leading diving groups on trips to  places which allows me to capture images of amazing animals and coral reefs. This also gives me an opportunity to meet new and exciting people which in some cases turn into life long friendships.
