2014 THEME - RAYS
From the superorder Batoidea and commonly known as batoids or rays. Rays are distinguished by their flattened bodies, enlarged pectoral fins that are fused to the head, and gill slits that are placed on their ventral surfaces. There are approximately 560 species in this superorder described in 13 families, which also include skates and sawfishes.
