The Finest Underwater Photographers in Texas

Welcome to the Houston Underwater Photographic Society's webpage.  HUPS was founded on May 2, 1983 and has within its membership many award winning photographers.  One of our primary objectives is to provide a nurturing environment for underwater photographers that enjoy the sport and want to improve their skills while having a great time with like-minded friends.

No matter your experience level, you will come to enjoy what HUPS has to offer.  Our monthly competitions and presentations will captivate you and our workshops will make you a better photographer.  If you are free and in the Houston area, come on down and see why we have been around for such a long time.  Guests are always welcome.

There is a online fund raising program to benefit the Fling. Due to social distancing measures it has not been allowed to go out this year. As you know without it there would not be a way to go out to the Flower Gardens. See the link below. Feel free to pass it on to your members. I know that CHUM has made such a donation.

HUFF has now been re-scheduled for the 12th and 13th of September 2020.

March 18, 2020

Based on current federal government guidelines limiting gatherings, the April 6th Houston Underwater Photographic Society (HUPS) meeting will be cancelled.  HUPS will resume monthly meetings when it is deemed safe to do so.  HUPS has a full slate of great programs scheduled for 2020.  The current situation will require some shifting of the program schedule.  The Houston Houston Underwater Film Festival (HUFF) is in the process of being rescheduled with new dates being announced soon.   We look forward to the time when we can again gather to talk about the ocean and underwater imaging.  In the meantime, the HUPS Board and Officers want to wish everyone continued health and safety.

"The Houston Underwater Photographic Society are carefully monitoring the possible impact of any further spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) on all our scheduled events. These include our monthly meetings, trips and The Houston Underwater Film Festival (HUFF). Based on current information, the Houston area has limited exposure and currently is not under any recommendations to close events.
However, as we have seen, this could change and HUPS will follow the recommendations and/or orders from governing bodies such as the CDC and local health authorities in such matters.
Currently our events remain unchanged but should the need arise to close such events, particularly the HUFF, our first preference is to reschedule the event at a safe and convenient time. In the case of the HUFF, our current policy is that, if successfully rescheduled  and ticket holders are then unable to attend at the new time, they may contact HUPS for refunds.  Should the event be cancelled, of course all tickets are to be refunded. This policy is not intended to serve as medical advice."
