Come on out to the ENCHANTED FOREST early on the morning of on May 9th, 2010 to practice your macro shots with fellow HUPS members. David Lenderman’s family owns this beautiful nursery out in Richmond. This is not your Home Depot sterile type of place. The nursery is packed with display gardens, flowers, water features and the like.
Here is the website:
http://www.myenchanted.com/

To get a feel for the place look at this page and click on the photo gallery at the bottom:
http://www.myenchanted.com/enchanted_forest_nursery.htm .

It is a great place to photograph flowers, butterflies and other insects. We have arranged to have HUPS members come out at 8:00 am on Sunday May 9th before the nursery opens at 10:00am. This will allow HUPS folks to run around, set up tripods or whatever without bothering or being bothered by customers.

The nursery is located at 10611 FM 2759 RICHMOND, TX 77469. That is near Booth, Texas behind the Greatwood subdivision.

I hope to see a good group out in Richmond this Sunday (May 9th). We'll bring a few goodies (i.e. pastries) to get the sugars rolling.

Suggested items other than your camera gear:
Bug Spray
Spray Bottle
Water droplet applicator
Sugar water 2:1 dilute to possibly attract insects
Negative space items (sky is the limit)

This morning was a lot of fun.  I probably have as many ladybug butt shots as I usually get of fish butts - LOL!!!  This one isn't a ladybug...not sure what it is

Nice shot.  Like most of my UW critter shots, I'm not sure what that critter you've photographed is either.

Its funny what you say about ladybug backsides compared to fish tails.  I think its pretty safe to say, most crawly or swimmy things aren't cooperative models.  Makes those shots like yours above all the better because you know how hard it is to get it all together in one image! Smiley
