Attendees should park in the lot just North of the church. Enter the church at the main entrance off the parking lot, pass the parlor on the left and take stairs to the second floor.

The next HUPS Workshop will cover the challenges facing the photographer, who has the goal of documenting his travels, including both topsides and underwater scenes.

Introduction – (5 minutes)

1. Tell a story, paint a picture

2. Use wide angle or panorama images to set the stage

3. Use 28 to 80 mm lens to photograph the individual major components of the scene

4. Use macro lens to photograph the detail.

Equipment – (10 minutes)

1. Tripod

2. Camera & lenses

3. Computer, memory cards

4. Cleaning and protection equipment

Travel Photography Lecture (30 – 40 minutes)

1. Photography with tour groups

  • Shooting thru bus windows
  • Shooting from boats
  • Photography at tourist sites

2. Architectural Photography

3. Computer Processing.

  • Adjusting images for color and contrast
  • Correcting perspective
  •  Importance of shooting RAW rather than jpeg images
  •  Making composite images to retain detail in both shadows and highlights.
  • Registering sequence shots for motion effects.

A-V show demonstrating the above techniques. (15 minutes)

Making panoramic images lecture – 30 minutes.
